Ingredients:

  • San Marzano Tomatoes 28 oz. can
  • 1 clove minced garlic
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • Optional: 1 tsp dried oregano
  • Optional: 1 tsp dried basil

Directions:

  1. Prepare tomatoes: Remove the tomatoes from the can by using a fork leaving behind the sauce and place the tomatoes in a pot on the stove.
  2. Crush/Blend tomatoes: Mash the tomatoes using a fork or a masher. For a smoother sauce, use an immersion blender.
  3. Prepare garlic: In a saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds.
  4. Add tomatoes & seasoning: Add the crushed San Marzano tomatoes to the pan then stir in the salt, oregano, and basil.
  5. Cook the sauce: Let the sauce simmer on low heat for 15-20 minutes and occasionally stir. Adjust seasoning if needed.
  6. Cool and use/store: Allow the sauce to slightly cool before spreading on pizza dough. If using at a later time, pour sauce into an airtight container then refrigerate (sauce can be in the refrigerator for up to 5 days).
